The New Orleans Hornets was founded in 1988 when they started in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The New Orleans Hornets' colors are teal, purple and gold. The franchise has never won a NBA division or conference title, but have been a playoff caliber team in the last couple of NBA seasons. The Hornets give powerhouses like the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks problems as they play out of the Southwest Division.

The New Orleans Hornets drafted Chris Paul in 2005 and he has been the team's best player in recent years. Paul won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in a landslide during the New Orleans Hornets' 2005-06 campaign. Other solid supporting players on the New Orleans Hornets roster include Tyson Chandler and Peja Stojakovic.
