The Detroit Pistons picked up Brian Cardinal in the second round of the 2000 draft. He played just 23 games over 2 seasons before being traded to the Washington Wizards.
By 2003-2004, Brian Cardinal hit his stride in the NBA. He was now a Golden State Warrior and earned playing time in 76 games. Cardinal averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds per game and earned the award for Most Improved on the team.
From 2004-2008, Brian Cardinal played for the Memphis Grizzlies though gradually saw his playing time decrease. In mid-2008, Brian Cardinal was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of an 8-person deal.
Brian Cardinal's nickname is the "The Custodian", a name he earned during his freshman year at Purdue based on his willingness to "clean the floor" by diving recklessly after loose balls.
