Nathan Jawai a standout forward on the Minnesota Timberwolves roster was born October 10, 1986 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Nathan Jawai was raised in Australia and began to standout as a star basketball player in high school when he played for the Australian Institute of Sport. After high school, Nathan Jawai moved to the United States to play college basketball at Midland College, in Midland, Texas.
In the 2008 NBA Draft, Nathan Jawai was drafted in the 2nd round as the 41st overall pick to the Indiana Pacers. In a trade deal Nathan Jawai was signed with the Toronto Raptors for a two year contract. Nathan Jawai started his NBA career out with not only impressive size and skill but also a nickname that would shape his professional basketball careers. Fans and basketball writers and announcers knew Nathan Jawai as the Outback Shaq or Aussie Shaq, the nickname was fitting and Nathan Jawai lived up to the hype.
Nathan Jawai spent his the 2008-2009 season between the Toronto Raptors and the Idaho Stampede a D-League development team. In July 2009, Nathan Jawai was signed to the Dallas Mavericks as a part of a four team trade deal. However, in October 2009, Nathan Jawai was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a conditional draft pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. Almost immediately Nathan Jawai started to make a name for himself on the Minnesota Timberwolves Roster and Minnesota Timberwolves Coaches are eager to see how the Outback Shaq will continue to grow and develop as a part of the Minnesota Timberwolves Basketball Franchise.
