More Info

Troy Hudson was born March 13, 1976 in Carbondale, Illinois. He played collegiate ball at University of Missouri and Southern Illinois University. Hudson was not selected in the NBA draft. Since earning a hard-fought spot on the Utah Jazz in 1998, he later played for the Los Angeles Clippers and the Orlando Magic. Troy Hudson then signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Aug. 26, 2002,

Troy Hudsons’ most productive seasons have come in Minnesota, where he averaged a career best 14.2 points and 5.7 assist per game in 2002-03. He was also ranked fourth in the NBA in free throw accuracy at 90.0%, the second-highest percentage in club history. He had several games where he scored over 30 points including a game against Seattle where Hudson poured in 31 points, his third 30+ effort of the year. He also tallied 31 points at a game against Dallas and scored 30 points in a game against the San Antonio Spurs. He even broke the Wolves franchise record for points in a playoff game with 37 points in the Timberwolves' Game 2 win vs. the Lakers. He was the Wolves' top scorer nine times.

Since landing a nice contract extension in 2003, Hudson has been plagued by nagging injuries that have hurt his production in recent years. He has had surgery on his right ankle and has sprained his left ankle several times. In a game vs. the Lakers, Hudson tallied 19 points in a mere 20 minutes, going 4-for-6 from three-point range. He has averaged 9.2 points per game throughout his career. He scored his 4,000th career point on March 3, 2004 vs. the Lakers in Los Angeles.

Hudson also has a musical side. "T-Hud," Hudson's nickname and stage name, has three rap albums and around 800 songs to his credit. A drum machine usually accompanies him on road trips. "I have my own label — Nutty Boyz Entertainment — and I have three artists (that I manage)," the Wolves' hip-hop guard has said in an interview.

Troy Hudson has not received much playing time in the 2005-06 season, however. In part due to injuries and other setbacks, he is currently having a down season.
